[info]amuchmoreexotic is slightly wrong (although he is amusing). While they save money on bandwidth etc, they stand to lose more because paid users are threatening to leave as a result. Not to mention the people with Plus accounts that will be striking, and so won't see the ads that day.

I seriously doubt there will be a large number of people who take part in the strike, and even if it is more than a blip, if I were SUP I'd think "great, let's get rid of the trouble makers".
